Contributing/Interacting On The Forum

Postby Admin » Sun Mar 23, 2014 10:57 pm

Hi UKDNV members, Over the last few months it has caught my attention that members are coming on to what I like to call #AFriendlyForum and making a post or posts in maybe the Write Up/Show Car Your Work Section and then leaving and not replying to other members posts.

There is a section of text in the Show Case You Valeting And Detailing Work Section "
There are no egos here so if its just a short write up, full write up with multiple before and after photos or a couple of reflection or beading pictures that's fine with us.
"

I have spent many hours working on the background of this forum to make it work for you the member, so unlike other Car Care, Valeting & Detailing Forums when posts are made on here they are worth the time and effort unlike making post on these so call weve got more members than you forums.

Its the interaction thats the key and respecting the time that others have took to make posts whether its a couple of pictures of a Mini Valet or 30 pics of a Full correction Detail and reply to them.

A discussion board (known also by various other names such as discussion group, discussion forum, message board, and online forum) is where you can leave and expect to see responses to messages you have left. Forgetting the SEO that has been carried out on the forum, UK Detailers & Valeters was setup so that users can share pics of their work and discuss (Interact) information and opinions. #ThisIsWhatMakesAGreatForum

Thanks for taking the time to read this post, your comments are welcome or just thank the post to show that you have read this.

Thanks Mr Suds AKA Dave of DMD Mobile Car Valeting Services #NowYouKnow if you didnt

Understood..

This also was one of the things that p155ed me off when I was in the forum game. Certain people (lets call him Scott) would log onto the forum, paste a write up straight from another detailing forum and then sod off. Popping back only to read his replies and bump his post with "thanks mate". Scott would make no attempt interact or even reply to other peoples threads. In my opinion this is bad technique.

Right a few points to be made here, i agree wholehartedly with the comments raised in this post i take some responsibility for doing this to some degree , and respect for a forum to grow or not remain stagnant it requires input from ALL MEMBERS , not just 3-4 regulars that do the donkey work .

I also think that some issues in this industry need to be discussed and not shyed away from and this forum is ideal in this respect unlike other cliquey forums who would shout you down and possibly enforce their opinions on what and where you are going wrong and rarely offer constructive advice with a select few not willing to share their knowledge on various subjects but sit there criticizing peoples work and reeks of double standards . That is the biggest bugbear i have with this quite frankly bitchy industry, i digress the points made in this post have been noted and from my point of view rectified.

Spic And Spanners, G3 Valeting, Shine My Ride, Ultra Detail, Thanks for your comments and taking the time to read this post. Rather disappointed in only four replys given that the hits this post has had and the members that have been online lately.

Par for the course unfortunately , shame really as this forum more than any other imo gives new starters and weekend warriors and pro's the chance to not only showcase there work but to participate in a full discussion on various subjects from starting up to correction to products and business help... Thats just the stuff i wanted needed when i set up...

Ultra Detail wrote:Or even make an effort to respond to those that take the time, for example there is one international detailer that takes
the time to post on here and how many of the regs can be bothered to respond, it's not like the fella's post is months old.

Indeed, and this goes back to my opening post, Iam sorry but these are my thoughts now it doesnt matter if your a member, Premium Member or international member if I am replying to their posts time after time after time, post after post etc, etc from my personal account and then when the time comes they can cant even be bothered to comment on my posts, the next time I will just stop replying and wasting my time looking and commenting on their post. This BS coming on here and making post #OhLookWhatIDid and F*** Off until they have some other write up to post is just BS, It ends up the same 3,4 or 5 people posting and replying.

And dont get me started on the member that got removed, but decided to join again and his first post is asking for a Freebee from Autobright.

As you know Mr Suds I was waiting for this post to drop off page 1 portal before posting to bring it back to the top. Now feel I should have replied before

I completely agree with the post and have in the past been guilty of this, its not till you read this post that you realize 'oh, I've done that' and bringing it to peoples attention is a very good thing. Hopefully people are reading it and taking note even if they are note replying to it here. After all it is the #Best #Forum ;-)

Yes Gareth you said this and there is no problem as I talked to you about this before, but I thought it might have been on PG1 of the Portal due to other members (not the same 4 or 5) posting and commenting on this post.

At the end of the day its not fancy SEO or lovely signatures that make this the #Best #Forum its the interacting and being a active member and joining in.

I do hope that what you have said "its not till you read this post that you realize 'oh, I've done that' and bringing it to peoples attention is a very good thing. Hopefully people are reading it and taking note even if they are note replying to it here." that this is the case Gareth. I do want this forum to be a success and that comes not from just me but the members on here contributing.
