Approved detailer?

Postby Harbour Reflections » Tue Jul 14, 2015 10:05 pm

Okay then, nearly there with my mobile business. I've had to balance full time teaching with sorting a van, website etc. Pretty much ready to go now.

Starting off with some FB like and share competition and some offers based on different themes ( Tour de France is on, yellow, green, red and white cars get a discount!)

Just pondering 'approved detailer status' there are a number of manufacturers who offer this, most charge, some quite a lot. Some specify you need to be in a unit (gtechniq).

Who of you are 'approved' and to whom, and does this lead to any meaningful revenue?

Cheers.

I never bothered with the approved thing. If I asked my customers if they would rather I used Gtech or Nanolex they would look at me like I was talking nonsense. lol.

So for me it would hold no weight.

I haven't bothered either. It may help gain the trust of a very few customers but the vast majority want a knowledgeable, open and honest person to see to their cars and don't care which branded products you use.

However.....the only one I might consider is Autoglym as a lot of people recognise the brand and expect it to be good. I'm betting there are high costs attached though.

Personally I think its a waste of time tbh and certainly does nothing for your business......especially if they dont even promote your business to raise your own business profile. A high percentage of the public only really know about Autoglym and saying or advertising on your site that your SOME SO CALLED HIGH END FANCY BRAND APPROVED detailer is just YEAH so what who cares...........get out there do a great job and that will bring you work/repeat work..........do my customers ask what brand I use........NO, they just want a clean car at the end of the day.

Cheers folks. I shan't fork out on unnecessaries then.

Did go to Autoglym for a 2 day valet course and got meself a certificate just for some provenance. Local rep is close, I rate a lot of their products and many are a decent price tradewise, certainly comparable to AS for some things.
